Florence's Rescue Story:
Florence is one of SIX that came to a shelter when their owner had to go into a nursing home. When the owners family came from out of town, they did not know she had a cat, LET ALONE SIX ADULT CATS!?
The family showed up at the shelter with ALL SIX cats in one cage just before 5:00pm, saying that they were on their way out of town and had no where for them to go. The shelter agreed to take them because of the situation, but explained that these kitties would be considered "owner surrenders" and that they were the first to be euthanized once they became overcrowded. It was kitten season and they were already overcrowded...
One of the shelter workers reached out to us when the vet arrived and WE HAD TEN MINUTES BEFORE THEY WOULD BE TAKEN TO BE EUTHANIZED as the shelter did not have a single cage. They explained that they were so sweet and beautiful they really wanted to give them every chance even though it was so last minute. We were full too but thought, WHAT IF that was one of us? WHAT IF that was our family members and these were OUR KITTIES that had NO CHANCE due to the timing of their situation? So, we took them all.
After we got them, we realized that none of them (three males and three females) were fixed, but THANKFULLY a generous donor heard their story and offered to cover their vet costs! Happy Tails Florence!

My name is Big Boy and this is my rescue story:
I was rescued from a shelter JUST before my time was up. Thankfully, the shelter allowed an extra 30 minutes for the nice people from Georgia Humane Society to come for me! *WHEW!* I was given lots of love, yummy food and some medical care once I got to the rescue, I hadn't felt that good in a long time. I was a little confused when I was put in the Adoption Center at PetSmart, but soon a family saw me, fell in love with me and took me home! A week later my new family visited PetSmart again and saw Jesse & Arthur, fell in love with them too and they brought me brothers and new playmates. How amazing is it that MY RESCUE resulted in three furbabies finding a loving, FURever home!? We are so very thankful for our second chance that everyday we try extra hard to bring joy & love to our family with three children.

My name is Juke and this is my rescue story:
I got my name because I was found in a car dealership parking lot. My paws were raw and bloody and my nails were worn down to the quick from running on the hot pavement. I had a very sore place on my lower lip too. I was alone, afraid, hurt and very, very hungry.
On a very hot day in June a family showed up to look for a car for their boy. I saw lots of families come and go during my time at the lot, so I hid in the shade under a car that was sitting away from the rest. I always hid. People weren’t good to me. After a little while, the family walked toward my hiding spot and when they opened the door to the car I was under, I ran. I ran hard and fast until I made it to the dirt bed I’d made for myself under a bush next to a building. My heart was pounding and my feet really hurt from running. I was busy licking them trying to make the hurt stop when I realized the boy and the lady were looking down at me. I knew they couldn’t reach me because of the thorny branches but I was so startled that I gave them one of my scariest hisses hoping that it would make them go away. They backed away from me a little bit but we could still see each other through the thin leaves. They were talking quietly to each other, then to me, then to each other again…I wished I knew what they were saying. After a few minutes, the man called to the boy and he walked back to the car, got in and drove away. The lady took a few steps back, sat down next to the building in the shade and kept talking to me in that same, quiet voice. Some time passed, I don’t know how long, but it was long enough for my heart to slow down and I felt less scared. I figured since my hiss made them back away before, maybe it would be okay to get a little closer to the lady. Maybe I could figure out what she was trying to tell me? She was standing up now, still talking to me, when I casually walked out of the bush just a few inches from her legs.
Then BOOM, she had me! The lady just grabbed me and pulled me into her arms!? I was fighting, hissing, screaming, even biting her but she wasn’t letting go. I was terrified and all my bad experiences and days as a wild kitten were running through my brain, I had to run away…until I realized she was STILL talking quietly to me AND she was RUBBING MY NECK. I got very still, I was so tired and the pets felt SO good. I still had no idea what she was trying to say to me but suddenly, I didn’t want to run anymore…
They took me to their home that day and fed me lots of yummy food and gave me a really soft bed to sleep on. During our time together they kept me fed, took me to a doctor who gave me medicine so I could feel better, I met new kitty and puppy friends and had lots of real toys to play with! Sounds awesome right!? That’s not even the best part! The best part was THEY LOVED ME. They loved me enough to let me sleep on their laps or wrapped around their necks. They loved me enough to let me perch on their shoulder so I could see things up high. They loved me enough to play with me. They loved me enough to spend time with me every day. They loved me enough to SAVE ME even when I acted wild and finally, they loved me enough to let me go when I learned how to love them back.
I’m proud to say that I was adopted at my very first PetSmart Adoption Event. The lady cried happy tears when I went home with my forever family. I finally figured out that the lady was simply trying to tell me that she loved me, even before she knew me…
