Joan McGuire - Director
Joan McGuire appointed to the board in 2023. Her role will be to assist during the weekly veterinary trips, intake of cats from various shelters and any other transport needs. In addition to her work with PPCR, she holds a board position with the County Animal Advisory Board. With more than a decade of experience in sales management, she is adept at working with a team to achieve common goals.
Joan recently retired from a successful career in the biotech sector. Never one to sit still for very long, all of Joan’s friends wondered how she would handle retirement after the very hectic pace of her former job. The freedom of retirement enabled her to pursue her passion for animal welfare and she began volunteering in early 2023, only 2 months post-retirement. Joan began and is, one of the cleaners at the PPCR rescue house. She is trained on all animal rooms and can assist as needed with training new volunteers.
Growing up on a farm in Alabama gave Joan a strong work ethic and an enormous soft spot for animals of all kinds. She and her husband share their home with 2 dogs and 3 cats (all rescues). She is active in her own neighborhood with feral colony control and has assisted friends with the same, practicing and preaching the benefits of TNR.
